7 time Tour De France winner Lance Armstrong has been revealed as a drug cheat.Samples of urine taken in 1999 were shown to contain an endurance enhancing hormone during his 1st Tour De France win. French sporting paper L'Equipe said. With a headline splashed across the front page ARMSTRONG'S LIE. the paper reported that Armstrong's use of the banned blood booster EPO. was revealed in tests by a French laboratory during his 1st win.
............................................................
Armstrong has always denied taking drugs or other performance enhancers to improve his performance. But his domination of the race since recovering from cancer, has always aroused suspicion in France, which has stringent anti- doping laws. Traces of EPO were found on 6 different occasions Armstrong's urine samples by the national doping testing lab of Chatenay- Malabry near Paris. EPO can boost performance by 30% .

Why is this just coming out now if it was discovered in 1999. And who holds on to urine damples for seven years?

Me of course. lol

he still holds 7 tytles doesn't he? which would seem to suggest that he hasn't been revealed as a cheet at all. a few french scientists have some suspicians is all that i read from that article. hardly irrefutable proof being offered by our continental cousins.

If he had been proven to be a cheat he would have been stripped of his first title 7 years ago. One of the cyclests was removed from the race this time because substances were found in his wife's car, they wouldn't have let armstrong win title after title after title if he had been cheating now would they, come on let's get real here.

Yeah, I've herd this a few times, but me thinks the frenchy french are just sor losers!

No they are country most against drug taking in sport and you ask why, I wonder could it have anything to do with Armstrong's legal team wanting to keep it quiet.

Post 8 by sugarbaby (The voice of reason) on Thursday, 25-Aug-2005 13:21:04

that's a load of crap, to put it mildly, if he'd cheated, it would have been revealed 7 years ago when the positive test was taken, not after he's announced his retirement. if he'd cheated, he would have been banned, end of.

Post 9 by Harp (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Thursday, 25-Aug-2005 13:28:56

goblin, no sports man or woman, or indeed there respective legal teams are above the law. if he broke the rules, and the authorities could prove that he had, he'd have been stripped of his title plus given a 2 year ban. it has nothing to do with legal teams. if legal teams had there way as you claim then no sports cheats would ever be brought to account.

lets face it they can't get a victory any other way so this is a poor shot lol.

Goblin, You're just a sour Scot aren't you? If Armstrong had been cheating we'd have all known about it long ago, when all the cheats were dragged out of the race publically. You just wish he was a fellow scot, so you'd have a chance of a champion. Well he's not, and the nearest thing you have is one David Coolthard, who is just an angry arrogant guy who couldn't win a raffle never mind a formula one championchip. They really don't breed them well in scotland do they?

interesting. that's just the kind of uncalled for personal attack that goblin constantly accuses others of! lol. double standards as usual!

Post 16 by PorkInCider (Wind assisted.) on Thursday, 25-Aug-2005 14:20:13

Double standards? is that because a single standard from a scot is never good enough to win anything?

Post 17 by Texas Shawn (The cute, cuddley, little furr ball) on Thursday, 25-Aug-2005 14:21:48

It's possible he sat on the wrong end of that sword he is allways talking about carrying around!

Post 18 by sugarbaby (The voice of reason) on Friday, 26-Aug-2005 7:52:33

oh dear me the goblin's crawled out of his coffin to insult those who dare disagree with his opinions. never mind ey, we all know the scottish aren't good at anything, well actually, most of the scots I've met have all been total drunks - so how the likes of goblin can sit there and accuse dawson of doing the same thing that goblin most likely does to this day, is somewhat hipocritical, especially as dawson no longer drinks and goblin clearly must be on something, be it alcohol or otherwise.

Hmm haven't we got our underwear in a knot hmm more bitterness and anger, why don't you do something about that instead of advertising your self hatred..Scots are very successful thankyou and FYI I support Michael Schumacher because Coulthard is shite..

oh goblin is still drinking then? I remember that when me and goblin were together he sold the computer to pay for the vodka, I guess he must be in a syber cafe then.

Post 22 by PorkInCider (Wind assisted.) on Friday, 26-Aug-2005 13:26:19

I guess it's easy to manage in an internet cafe when you only pretend to be blind. Wonder if the staff look at him oddly for using a guide dog whilst able to see the screen?

Post 23 by wannaBe (Newborn Zoner) on Friday, 26-Aug-2005 13:36:29

Oh I think it's probably not a guide dog, but a guard dog. you see, before Alex had the operation, when he was still Alexandra, he was well known in Glasgow, but you see, when he decided to have the operation, some didn't take it so well, especially not the ex husband. so he needs to take a dog with him to protect him against attacks.

Post 24 by PorkInCider (Wind assisted.) on Friday, 26-Aug-2005 13:42:40

I'd have thought the opporation would be the least of his worries. I heard his face was so bad that the police asked him to always keep it covered so as not to cause a riot. I guess that isn't possible to do when you're rolling drunk and can't remember. Must be tough regularly waking up though never sure if it's the cells or casualty that has given you your bed.

First, were the urine samples tested by another maybe independent country's laboratory? France has interests in this case and is biased. Second, could it be that some of the medication that Armstrong took for fighting cancer might contain this drug in small amounts? Finally, why was he permitted to race year after year if the test showed positive after the first win? I think something is wrong with this picture, don't you? Star

Just herd on the news, that Lance is thinking about going for another title! boohoo, mister frenchy french man!

Post 27 by Inesle1987 (Account disabled) on Friday, 09-Sep-2005 5:16:35

Yeah Goblin I heard about this news and I was honestly shocked. Six times I think he wan the tour de france in a row. If he hadn't been doped our German man Jan Ullrich would have been the winner at least once. This is so unfair. Why is it coming out so late after - six years!
